  • Notes
    • Excerpt from Xeroxed copies of pages from an unknown book, a collection of family histories:

(John Wild) came to Dakota Territory from Ontario in 1882. He first spent some time in the Grandin area where he worked as a farm hand. In those days the flat lands of the Valley were often flooded because of the lack of drainage, this presented problems in getting the crop planted in the spring; for this reason, I believe, and also prompted by a desire to settle on land that he could call his own, he came north to the Milton area and settled in Montrose Township area.

The story of the struggle in the pioneer days is too long to cover in this allotted space.

On January 16, 1894, John was married to Louisa B. Mueller of Carlyle, IL. In the years to follow they raised a family of eight children, all of whom they reared in a wonderful home atmosphere of faith, love and devotion to God and country.
